MUMBAI, INDIA — Japanese chemical company Kaneka Corp. is considering establishing a production facility in India.

The Osaka-based chlorinated PVC resin maker has been supplying India for more than a decade, but has seen business pick up in the past four years, said Shinji Mochizuki, assistant general manager for marketing at Kaneka India Pvt. Ltd., at the Vinyl India conference in Mumbai.

Kaneka has already started a feasibility study for a new plant.

“We may take couple of more years to take the firm position on expansion in India. The plant may come in the post-2015 phase,” Mochizuki said.

Kaneka supplies about 20,000 metric tonnes of CPVC to India annually. Mochizuki estimated the total market at about 80,000 metric tonnes.
